Product insights

Krea 2 at a glance

Value proposition

Transfer the look of your references, from grainy film to clean studio shots, instead of fighting prompts for a style.

Problem solved

Many image models drift toward the same polished look and repeat one concept across a batch, which makes distinct styles hard to hit.

Audience

Designers, art directors, illustrators, and creators building visual moodboards, plus developers who want an open image model to fine-tune.

Pricing and access

Free to try in the Krea app, with paid Krea plans for more generations. The open weights are free to download under Krea’s community license; commercial licenses are available from Krea.

Market

  • Launched by Krea on May 12, 2026
  • Released with open weights and inference code

  • Foundation image model trained from scratch
  • RAW base checkpoint (up to 1K) and 8-step Turbo (1K to 2K)
  • Weights on Hugging Face: krea/krea-2-raw, krea/krea-2-turbo

What is Krea 2?

Krea 2 is an image generation model from Krea, the AI creative suite known for real-time generation. Unlike earlier Krea models, K2 was trained from scratch, with a focus on style transfer and variety. You can feed it reference images (Krea’s example uses 13) or a curated moodboard, tune how closely the output follows each reference, and widen or narrow the spread of palettes and styles across a batch. Krea also published two open checkpoints: RAW, the undistilled base model recommended for fine-tuning and LoRA training, and Turbo, an 8-step distilled model for fast generation at 1K to 2K resolution.

FAQ about Krea 2

What is Krea 2?

Krea 2 (K2) is Krea’s first image model trained from scratch, focused on aesthetics, style references, and creative control.

Is Krea 2 open source?

Yes. The inference code is Apache 2.0 on GitHub, and the RAW and Turbo weights are on Hugging Face under Krea’s community license. Commercial licenses are available from Krea.

What is the difference between Krea 2 RAW and Turbo?

RAW is the undistilled base model for fine-tuning and LoRA training. Turbo is an 8-step distilled version for fast text-to-image generation, and LoRAs trained on RAW can be applied to it.

How is Krea 2 different from Krea Realtime?

Krea Realtime renders frames live as you draw or prompt. Krea 2 is a still-image model built for higher-quality, style-controlled results in about 15 seconds.

krea.ai

Krea 2 (K2) is the first foundation image model Krea trained completely from scratch. It is built for aesthetics and creative control: you can guide a generation with one or more style reference images or a whole moodboard, set how strongly each reference applies, and choose how varied a batch should be. It runs in the Krea app in about 15 seconds per generation, and the weights are open on Hugging Face as Krea 2 RAW and Krea 2 Turbo.
